This is an Old Silver Tribal pendant. The pendant was originally made and worn by the tribal gypsy people of Rajasthan in Northern India. It features the Goddess Kali. Kali is an extremly powerful figure who signifies both creation and destruction and represents Mother Nature. She is worn in India as a very strong protection amulet. I bought the pendant in Rajastan myself. It is 60-150 years old, and is extremely pure fine silver with 98% purity. (To compare sterling silver is 92.5%). This is a particularly stunning amulet, large and with clear and defined details. The pendant is 4.3 cm across and 5.8 cm (2.25) high. I will send the pendant on a length of very strong black cotton cord, tied into an adjustable length slip knot.
I have been making my living exclusively from designing and making jewellery for 9 years. I travel every year to seek out old and tribal silver from Asia and India along with semi-precious stones.
Back at home in Brighton, England, I make these loose pieces up into beautiful and unusal jewellery. Every item will be send beautifully packaged in a cotton gift bag made especially for me by a women's self help group in India.
